About the Astronomy Network of OhioThe Astronomy Network of Ohio (ANO) is an online resource for finding information about any Ohio-based astronomy organization or activity. ANO is a web site, plain and simple, and is not organized in any way beyond that -- no dues, no meetings, no obligations (although I do ask that you display our logo and link to us if we list you here). ANO has been created to increase the public profile and interest level in astronomy-related activities around Ohio, to enable students, teachers, Scout troops and tourists easier access to information on astronomy related activities, both indoor and outdoor, and for all seasons. ANO has also been created to facilitate communications and relationships between the various, diverse members of the astronomy community. Astronomy club members, planetarium directors, professional scientists and others are all committed to promote understanding of our universe and appreciation for our starry sky. However, these diverse workers often don't collaborate or work together for their common purpose. It is hoped that ANO will help everyone get acquainted so that we can "pull our oars together." In this way, perhaps ANO can be a model for other states in the USA, and in the world beyond. You can help make ANO a success and not just another dry-ball dead end on the internet. If you have a relevant web site, please submit information about your site and/or your group by clicking on one of the Logo's below. Also, you can tell others about this site and try to get people involved, to insure completeness and accuracy of the information posted here. Also, you can link your site to ANO, and show your further support by adding either the large or small ANO logo graphic to your link (shown below). Show the world you're proud to belong to the Astronomy Network of Ohio! ANO was created and maintained by Jay Ryan of Cleveland. Jay is an Astronomical Cartoonist and was Contributing Editor to Sky & Telescope magazine, "The Essential Magazine of Astronomy." Jay's educational astronomy cartoon SkyWise appears each month in Sky & Telescope. Prior to that, Jay had created an astronomy cartoon called Starman which appeared in the newsletters of over 150 astronomy clubs, planetariums and park districts worldwide. Jay is also the author of Cycles, an astronomy comic book published by the Astronomical Society of the Pacific. With 10,000 copies in print, Cycles is used in classrooms and astronomy organizations all around the world. In September 1999, Jay became too involved with other projects to keep up with ANO so he asked for someone to give ANO a good home. That is how ANO wound up with us at the Warren Rupp Observatory. Great job Jay, I hope you will like how your site evolves. Mike Grilley,
