changes to The Science Education Council of Ohio (SECO) SECO is the state chapter of the National Science Teachers Association. SECO was founded in 1977 and now has 3700 members. SECO pursues a number of avenues toward facilitating communication and implementation among science teachers in Ohio. NASA Glenn Educational Activities NASA John H. Learning Technologies Project The NASA Glenn Learning Technologies Project works with educators and NASA professionals to create lessons plans that focus on using aeronautics to enhance the science and math classroom. The goal of the site is to try to excite students about pursuing careers in math and science. Ohio Aerospace Institute The Ohio Aerospace Institute is a consortium of nine Ohio universities, NASA Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, and private companies. OAI's mission is to be a collaborative network of university, industry and government, focused on the creation, integration, application and communication of aerospace related knowledge and the commercialization of related technologies. The Ohio Space Grant Consortium c/o Ohio Aerospace Institute 22800 Cedar Point Road Cleveland, Ohio 44142 The Ohio Space Grant Consortium (OSGC) is part of the National Space Grant College and Fellowship Program funded through Congress and administered by NASA Headquarters. The Ohio Aerospace Institute operates the Ohio Space Grant Consortium. The Space Grant objectives include promoting a strong science, mathematics, and technology educational base from elementary through university levels. The Space Grant's primary focus in Ohio are scholarships and fellowships, and outreach to the K-12 educational system. The scholarships and fellowships are for students in technical areas that mirror disciplines at the NASA Lewis Research Center. The Ohio Mathematics and Science Coalition
The Ohio Mathematics and Science Coalition is a group of leaders from education, business, and the public sectors, working with the common goal of revitalization and improvement of mathematics and science education, from preschool to beyond graduate school. The mission of the OMSC is to stimulate and sustain efforts to create systemic reform for the improvement of mathematics and science education in Ohio. Ohio Academy of Science The Ohio Academy of Science is a membership-based, volunteer-driven, not-for-profit organization. The Academy is the leading organization in Ohio to foster curiosity, discovery, and innovation and to unite all who value education, science, engineering, technology, or their applications for the benefit of society. The Academy conducts an annual meeting and science days, and publishes an international, multidisciplinary, scientific journal.
OLPAC's primary mission is to minimize the negative environmental impact and energy waste due to inefficient outdoor lighting in Ohio. Our principal tool for achieving this is education. By building awareness of light pollution, and about the value and effectiveness of well-designed lighting, we can make a difference. We can save energy, preserve dark skies, eliminate driving hazards, improve the appearance of our neighborhoods, and save money at the same time. OhioView OhioView is a consortium of state universities, K-12 educators, state government agencies, the USGS EROS Data Center, the NASA Lewis Research Center, OhioLINK, OhioSupercomputer Center, OARnet, and NREN whose mission is to promote the low-cost distribution of US Government civilian satellite data for public use. Meetings are held on the fourth Thursday of every month from September to May. The regular program usually features a speaker or special program developed by CVSS members. CVSS members were instrumental in persuading the Ohio Governor to declare Space Week, celebrated the third week in July, a state holiday.
