   Hey! We've got contests for Amateur Telescope Making and Astrophotography. As you can see, our guests have a wonderful time touring the makeshift displays and many folks suggested we have a contest! Why not? We have in the past and it was great fun! You wouldn't believe some of the beautiful telescopes we've seen over the years....  All you need to do is bring your astrophotos and a way to display them. There's plenty of room in Sky View Lodge. (think Command Adhesive Hooks and lotsa' windows.) Because astrophotography is such a challenging field, we'll be sure to break the contests into categories, such as lunar, planetary, deep sky and youth... and there's no such thing as a "bad" picture. It's all about sharing and fun! How do you enter? Just tell us when you arrive what contest(s) you'll be participating in and we'll give you a marker to place with your work. How do you win? All of our guests will receive ballots in their entry packets to vote. Winners will be announced in advance of the prize drawing and will receive a Certificate of Achievement and extra raffle tickets! What In The Universe? Think you know your star stuff? Do you get psyched when you see that rare astronomy question on Jeopardy? How'd you like to put your knowledge of the heavens to the test and walk away with extra tickets for our prize give away? Well, if it's cloudy or raining on Saturday night, then join us in the Big Lodge for some real games!  What In the Universe? is the alternative for those that would to compete - but just aren't astrophotographers or telescope makers. How does it work? Just have a seat, grab a writing instrument and participate in a question-and-answer forum that's guaranteed to give the ol' noggin' a workout. Questions will cover a variety of astronomical areas, including recent events, the solar system, deep-sky objects, constellations, cosmology, famous astronomers and even some pop-culture. Come and watch the fun when the going gets tough and the tough get... well... going!! Any of our guests are eligible to play What In the Universe? and the person with the most answers correct at the end of our assigned time will be the winner of the extra raffle tickets and all participants will receive a Certificate of Achievement for putting the brains on the line! If we're unable to get to all the folks who want to play within our alloted time, we'll simply make more time until everyone has had a chance. Come on... Don't be shy. If you love astronomy, you're sure to know a lot more answers than you think you do! Show us what you got and walk away with the tickets for the grand prize! You'll be awarded your Certificate and tickets before the Prize Drawing so others can envy your brains! Group With The Largest Attendance  Now here's a contest for you! All it takes is just letting us know how many members of your group or organization will be attending this year's Hidden Hollow. You'll receive a Commemorative Certificate and each member of your group will receive an extra raffle ticket! The winning group will be announced before the Prize Drawing and we thank you for your support! Come on... Whadda' ya' say? Everyone loves to be a winner... and everyone loves to see a winner! What can be more fun that watching a smiling face? |
