Guest Speakers

Brent Archinal: Who gave a terrific and entertaining talk. Be sure to look at thispage for more! It was great to have him here again!

Stephen James O'Meara: There's nothing like a legend coming down to Earth, and Steve most surely many of our nights as he not only gave an inspiration speech, but became part of the crowd. Be sure to check out this page for more!

Terry Mann: We cannot thank Terry enough for her continued support of WRO. But, Terry is a lot more than just that... Please check it out here!

Nate Cardarelli: Nate had us all laughing as we visited with him and learned about the fabrics of space

Barb Hubal: Her presentation was on "Safe Solar Viewing" and "The Venus Transit", but she gave us so much more as we all enjoyed the Sun in H-Alpha! We'd like to thank her so much for joining us and all the help she and her husband provided in getting the show on the road.

Jason Shinn: As a member of the Akron Astronomy Club, Jason gave a great program on Radio JOVE and everyone was "listening"! Not only that but he was one heck of a nice guy and provided us with hands-on materials as well. You can check out more about Jason here!

Rick Schrantz: Rick Schrantz is president of the Bluegrass Amateur Astronomy Club in Lexington, KY. He has been astro-imaging for 20 years, and is now an avid imager of h-alpha objects and also likes planetary imaging using a webcam. Not only was his workshop the talk of the weekend, but it was so popular he had to give two! You can check out more about his workshop program here!

Jay Freeman: And we'd also like to thank Jay for coming and giving us a wonderful program on "Deep Impact"! We appreciate your time so much.

Interested in some of our past? Then be sure to check out Joe Tarkany's account of Hidden Hollow '02! Who says it isn't fun? Even a hurricane can't stop this great weekend. No matter what the weather, there were plenty of sheltered areas and things to do. This year gave us unbelievably great weather and everyone was having a great time! Sleep? What's that! This party rocked all night and all day!

About The Star Party...

As in past years, wasprimative lodging available in the bunkhouses provided by Friendly House, as well as camping on the Observatory grounds. The fee was included in registration and there was no shortage of places to stay and plenty of hot showers to go around.

This year we are incredibly pleased that NorthStar Concessions was part of the Hidden Hollow weekend! Opening on Friday morning, the crew was on hand 24 hours and the food was great! It was great having our favourite munchies just a short walk away from our scopes. We are sure they will join us again next year!

We will also had many fine vendors! We're sorry the great folks from Smart Astronomy couldn't make it, but they rushed us a prize anyway! We all enjoyed University Optics and AstroCard, as well as "Crazy Bob" and "Astronomy To Go", and the great folks from "Tech 2000". If you would be interested in becoming a vendor for 2006, please contact us.

Door prizes? You know it! This list of door prizes was phenomenal and we like to thank these folks so much for their generousity and support of WRO and Hidden Hollow. We had software from Starry Nights,, accessories fromProtoStar merchandise fromTelescopes.com, some very special goodies from Smart Astronomy and surprises from Hales Harley Davidson. We had gift certificates from ITE Astronomy, merchandise from Dynapod, a full set of AstroCards and red LED lighter from the folks at AstroCard and a beautiful autographed edition of "The Grand Tour - A Traveler's Guide to the Solar System" contributed by Dave Hartsel. And they kept on coming! We received a VersiTool and a WaistCase from Orion, a wonderful fully featured eyepiece case from Case Place USA. $100 in merchandise from AstroZap and some very special meteorites from the one and only Robert Haag - The Meteorite Man! And... There's more! John Chumak of Galactic Images is donating some of his fine work and the incredible Meade Telescopes has donated a state of the art LX90!! Does it get any better than that? You betcha'. We've just received word that Mike Martinez of Mare Meteoritics will also be contibuting some of his great meteors! And you should have seen this clever gadget, Acton Astro contributed - two Telguides! Not only all, this, but the folks from both Tech 2000 and "Astronomy To Go" were also contributors. For these fine folks? We cannot thank you enough. Your support of the Observatory and all the fine folks who purchased tickets for chances at these prizes are the sole reason we are happy to announce that Hidden Hollow will be able to continue again next year. You'll never know how much we appreciate everyone, and you will become a permanent link in the "Our Thanks" webpage. We could not have done this without YOU!

Most of all, we would like to thank YOU, for attending this year's Hidden Hollow event. If it were not for your geneorousity and support, we could not have done it.
