Many thanks to those of you who took the time to get trained on Star Lab! Let's start out with a few general guidelines...

1. To use the Star Lab, you MUST be properly trained, or accompanied by a member who has had training. (Tammy, Robert, Ken, Barb, Dave, Dan and Terry.)

2. To commit Star Lab to a remote (away from the Observtory) program, you must post a request for time. This will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

3. To commit Star Lab to a program located at Hidden Hollow, we must first pre-approve the use of the SkyView lodge through Friendly House. Please contact Joe to make sure the date is available before making arrangements with any group.

4. If you request Star Lab for a remote program and are unable to transport it in your vehicle, please contact Robert. He has volunteer to assist in both programs and transportation, but please keep in mind gas reimbursement (.25 per mile) when arranging for a program.

5. If you are properly trained, have transportation for the equipment, and wish to give a remote program, you are welcome to offer it for free if you wish.

6. If you check out Star Lab, you must take responsiblity for having it returned for the next request.

7. If you would like Star Lab training, we'd be happy to make it happen! Just remember that Star Lab requires 24X24X12 dimensions in an indoor ONLY facility. We can make training arrangements only when the proper facilities are open.

8. Please do not commit Star Lab to a program without first making sure it has a proper facility for set up and presenters available!

9. If you are not trained on Star Lab, but would still like to be able to offer it to a remote location or a program at the Observatory, please don't hesitate to ask. We'll do our very best to serve everyone's needs.

10. Have fun with it! For those who have seen Star Lab in action, it's an AWESOME educational tool and we'd like to see it used as much as possible. Post your requests here! If you are not a member of the WRO bulletinboard and would like to make arrangements for Star Lab for your group, please write: theastronomer2 (at) gmail.com

Just a reminder that StarLab will be visiting St. Bernard's Catholic School on May 27.

With the price of gas, we'll wait to return it for our program on June 3.

Thanks,

~Tammy

I wanted to give an update as to the planetarium programs.
In April I put on planetarium programs for five schools.
May 01 program for New Washington schools there were 420 students plus teachers.
May 12 will be programs for Iberia Elementary school also Johnsville Elementary school.
May 21st I will have programs for Fredericktown Schools.
Hope you enjoyed the update. The planetarium has been received quite well at the schools.
Thanks
